University cooperation with employers

cooperationBelgrade, 14 June 2012 – Within the Tempus CareerS project work package for development of cooperation with employers the round table “University cooperation with employers” was organized at the University of Novi Sad.

The event was officially opened by prof.dr Miroslav Veskovic, Rector of the University of Novi Sad who pointed out importance of connecting the business and academic world and stressed the need of graduates to gain relevant work experience through internship programs in companies and institutions.

Beside the representatives of the university career centers from Serbia and EU partner countries (UK, Italy, Poland), this event gathered representatives of selected employers, ministries, media and other stakeholders.

Representatives of European universities (Swansea, Padua and Silesia) spoke about and presented the best practices and models of university cooperation with employers in Great Britain, Italy and Poland.  Representatives of Serbian universities (University of Novi Sad, University of Belgrade, University of Kragujevac and University of Nis) presented the cooperation schemes and programs realized in cooperation with employers. Their view of cooperation with universities and their experiences were presented by representatives of companies and organizations from Serbia (Petroleum Industry of Serbia, Public Enterprise for electric energy transmission, American Chamber of Commerce and Government of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina).

Conclusions and closing remarks on fostering greater participation of employers in the activities of universities in Serbia aimed at improving the graduate employability and their career management skills were made by representative of the Ministry of Youth and Sport Vesna Vidojevic.            


OKRUGLI STO O SARADNJI UNIVERZITETA SA POSLODAVCIMA

Beograd, 14. Jun 2012. – Povodom rada na razvoju saradnje sa poslodavcima i uključivanju što većeg broja poslodavaca u aktivnosti univerzitetskih centara za razvoj karijere i savetovanje studenata na univerzitetima u Srbiji, a u okviru Tempus projekta „Razvoj karijernog vođenja u cilju unapređenja visokog obrazovanja u Srbiji“ organizovan je juče na Univerzitetu u Novom Sadu okrugli sto pod nazivom „University cooperation with employers“.
Okrugli sto otvorio je prof.dr. Miroslav Vesković, rektor Univerziteta u Novom Sadu, koji je istakao značaj povezivanja privrede i obrazovanja i u svom obraćanju poseban akcenat stavio na važnost organizovanja stručnih praksi.
Na okruglom stolu učestvovali su predstavnici tri evropska univerziteta (Svonsi, Padova i Sajlešija) koji su govorili o najboljim praksama i modelima saradnje univerziteta i poslodavaca u Velikoj Britaniji, Italiji i Poljskoj. O saradnji koja se realizuje na domaćim univerzitetima govorili su predstavnici Univerzitet u Novom Sadu, Univerziteta u Beogradu, Univerziteta u Kragujevcu i Univerziteta u Nišu. Svoje viđenje saradnje sa univerzitetom i dosadašnja iskustva izneli su predstavnici kompanija i organizacija iz Srbije (Naftna industrija Srbije, Elektromreža Srbije, Američka privredna komora, Skupština AP Vojvodine).
U prisustvu poslodavaca, studenata i medija, na ovom skupu zaključnu reč uzela je predstavnica Ministarstva omladine i sporta Republike Srbije, Vesna Vidojević.

Initial Meeting on the CareerS Project's Work Package 6

work package 6Belgrade, 11-12 June 2012. - Belgrade Open School organized the Initial Meeting on the CareerS Project's Work Package 6. The Meeting was held in the premises of BOS on June 11-12, 2012. The participants of the Meeting were 23 experts sent from the institutions which are partners on the project CareerS: University of Belgrade, University of Novi Sad, University of Nis, University of Kragujevac, Singidunum University, University of Swansea, University of Padua, University of Silesia, Ministry of Youth and Sport, Ministry of Education and Science and Belgrade Open School. The purpose of the project CareerS is the development of career guidance in order to improve higher education in Serbia.

Work package 6 is a very important one on Careers project, since it aims to design and develop standards and methodology for the realisation of career guidance and counselling for university students in Serbia. Work package consists of two main parts: Development of National Career Guidance and Counselling Programme in Serbia for age group 19-30, and Development of National Career Guidance and Counselling Methodology in Serbia for age group 19-30. Since the first activity within this package – forming of the group of experts – is delivered successfully, BOS organized the initial meeting in order for experts to get to know each other better and to formulate a detailed work plan for this package.


Održan Uvodni sastanak o Radnom paketu 6 na projektu CareerS

Beograd, 11-12. Juni 2012. - Beogradska otvorena škola organizovala je Uvodni sastanak o Radnom paketu 6 na projektu CareerS. Sastanak je održan u prostorijama BOŠ-a 11-12 juna 2012 godine. Učesnici sastanka bili su 23 eksperta delegiranih iz institucija partnera na projektu CareerS: Univerzitet u Beogradu, Univerzitet u Novom Sadu, Univerzitet u Nišu, Univerzitet u Kragujevcu, Univerzitet Singidunum, Univerzitet Svonsi, Univerzitet u Padovi, Univerzitet u Šleziji, Ministarstvo omladine i sporta, Ministarstvo prosvete i nauke i Beogradska otvorena škola. Svrha projekta CareerS je razvoj sistema karijernog vođenja i savetovanja u cilju unapređenja visokog obrazovanja u Srbiji.

Radni paket 6 je veoma važan na projektu CareerS, jer je cilj ovog paketa da kreira i razvije standarde i metodologiju za realizaciju karijernog vođenja i savetovanja za studente u Srbiji. Radni paket se sastoji iz dva glavna dela: razvoj Programa karijernog vođenja i savetovanja u Srbiji za starosnu grupu 19-30 i razvoj Metodologije karijernog vođenja i savetovanja u Srbiji za starosnu grupu 19-30. S obzirom na to da je prva aktivnost u okviru ovog paketa - formiranje grupe stručnjaka za izradu Programa i Metodologije - uspešno realizovana, BOŠ je organizovao Uvodni sastanak kako bi stručnjaci mogli bolje da upoznaju jedni druge i da formulišu detaljan plan rada za ovaj paket.

EU training at Swansea University

– During the period from 8th until 14th of May 2012 the group from Serbia attended training at University of Swansea Careers and Employment in UK. The Career Guidance and Counselling training and study visit at the University of Swansea consisted of a structured program with introductory, practical and advanced components for the key staff from the university career services from the University of Belgrade, University of Novi Sad, University of Nis, University of Kragujevac, University of Singidunum and a representative of the Ministry of Youth and Sport, a relevant national institution for the implementation of the National Strategy of Career Guidance and Counselling of the Republic of Serbia. Training was part of one of the project work-packages devoted to development and strengthening capacities of university career services. Goal of the training was to train and introduce the key staff with best practices of our EU partners in the field of delivery of career guidance at higher education institutions and improving relations of policy makers and practitioners.

During the following period and with the continuous support and cooperation Serbian university career services plan to develop e-services and various employability programs to achieve one of the project objectives - to enable wider accessibility and variety of programs in Career guidance at Higher Education Institutions. Project CareerS - DEVELOPMENT OF CAREER GUIDANCE AIMED AT IMPROVING HIGHER EDUCATION IN SERBIA - is focused on development of career guidance in higher education as an integral part of development of system of career guidance in Serbia.

Current state and perspectives of career guidance at universities in Serbia

- Today at the University of Belgrade a national workshop to present a status report and perspectives of career guidance at universities in Serbia was held within the Tempus project Careers - Development of career guidance aimed at improving higher education in Serbia. The workshop was dedicated to working together on the presentation of status report and perspectives of career guidance at universities in Serbia, in order to more effectively disseminate information about the university career centers to local teachers, students, administrators and other stakeholders. The workshop was attended by representatives of the University of Belgrade, University of Novi Sad, University of Nis, Singidunum University and the Student Conference of the Universities of Serbia. A publication that was published for this occasion "University Centers for Career Development and Student Counseling - Career Guidance at universities in Serbia" offers an overview of the objectives, activities, programs and achievements of career centers in universities and is available in its entirety on the page downloads/publications





NACIONALNA RADIONICA: PREDSTAVLJANJE SNIMKA STANJA I PERSPEKTIVA KARIJERNOG VOĐENJA NA UNIVERZITETIMA U SRBIJI

– Danas je na Univerzitetu u Beogradu održana nacionalna radionica za predstavljanje snimka stanja i perspektiva karijernog vođenja na univerzitetima u Srbiji u okviru Tempus projekta CareerS koji ima za cilj razvoj karijernog vođenja u cilju unapređenja visokog obrazovanja u Srbiji. Radionica je bila posvećena zajedničkom radu na predstavljanju snimka stanja i perspektiva karijernog vođenja na univerzitetima u Srbiji, u cilju što učinkovitijeg širenja informacija o univerzitetskim karijernim centrima prema lokalnom nastavnom osoblju, studentima, administrativnom osoblju i drugim interesnim grupama. Na radionici su učestvovali predstavnici Univerziteta u Beogradu, Univerziteta u Novom Sadu, Univerziteta u Nišu, Univerziteta Singidunum i Studentske konferencije Univerziteta Srbije. Publikacija koja je ovom prilikom objavljena “Univerzitetski centri za razvoj karijere i savetovanje studenata – karijerno vođenje na univerzitetima u Srbiji” nudi pregled ciljeva, aktivnosti, programa i dostignuća centara za razvoj karijere na pomenutim univerzitetima i dostupna je u celini na strani downloads/publications

Kick-off meeting organised at the University of Belgrade

kickoffBelgrade, 31 January 2012 – Kick off meeting of the Tempus project “CareerS – Development of Career Guidance Aimed at Improving Higher Education in Serbia” has been organized at the University of Belgrade on 30 and 31 January 2012.

First day of this start-up activity for the management of the project was attended by all 14 partner’s representatives coming from: Swansea in United Kingdom, Padua in Italy, Katowice in Poland, Nis, Kragujevac, Novi Sad, Subotica and Belgrade.

Key note address was given by representatives of grant holder institution and project coordinator – University of Belgrade, Ministry of Education and Science and Ministry of Youth and Sport.

Prof. dr Neda Bokan, Vice-Rector of the University of Belgrade greeted the guests coming for the first time in Serbia and all the partners expressing her pleasure that this Project received funding and will be coordinated by University of Belgrade Centre for Career Development and Student Counseling.

Mirjana Milanovic from the Ministry of Education said in her key note address that the Ministry has a strong interest in achieving the objectives of this project since and that this project is perceived as a chance to realize some of the measures of the Action Plan for the implementation of the National Strategy of Career Guidance and Counseling of the Republic of Serbia, which has been adopted by the Government of Serbia in March 2010.

Zora Krnjaic from the Ministry of Youth and Sport underlined importance of the National Strategy of Career Guidance and Counseling of the Republic of Serbia in the context of Youth Policy in Serbia. As a Ministry which invests much effort in implementation of the Action plan of the Strategy of Career Guidance and Counseling of the Republic of Serbia, Ministry of Youth commended the work of University Centre for career development of the University of Belgrade related to preparation of this project proposal and gathering such a consortium to work on this project.

Dejana Lazic, project coordinator and Head of the University of Belgrade Centre for Career Development and Student Counseling gave a presentation of the Project CareerS, describing the project objectives, roles of the partners and general approach to the subject. /DOWNLOAD PPT/

The afternoon working session for Consortium members was devoted to further project description and planning. Marija Jovanovic, program coordinator of the University of Belgrade Centre for Career Development and Student Counseling introduced participants with relevant information and material for project implementation, and presented the project activities and outcomes, project logical framework matrix, overall workplan and the workplan for the first year of the project. During this session the Internal Quality Committee was formed.

Second day of the kick-off meeting started with a workshop given by a representative of the National Tempus Office Serbia, Jasmina Gajic who gave a presentation on Management, Reporting and Visibility of Tempus project and answered all the questions participants had.

The second workshop was lead by Marija Šola, University of Belgrade. She explained the financial management of project to participants and provided them with practical instructions and key information related to reporting requirements and supporting documents. Last workshop was devoted to “CareerS” Project Management and Project Financial issues. Dejana Lazic, University of Belgrade gave participants information on project management structure and budget details. Basic management structure was established consisting of the CareerS Project Steering Committee and CareerS Project Consortium Board. Following the workshops, the Serbian University teams’ representatives meeting was organized for the action planning of the upcoming project activities

Project CareerS presented at the Tempus Info Day

meeting3Belgrade, 18 November 2011 – The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Serbia and National Tempus Office in Serbia organised today the Conference on EU programs for cooperation in the field of education  - the Information Day - Tempus and other EU programs for cooperation in the field of education.

The conference was opened by Mr. Adriano Martins, Deputy Head of EU Delegation in Serbia, and Mr. Radivoje Mitrovic, State Secretary from the Ministry of Education and Science Republic of Serbia.

Participants of the conference were representatives of higher education and other educational institutions, representatives of chambers of commerce and government, and they had the opportunity to see new Calls for projects in Tempus, Erasmus Mundus Programme and lifelong learning.

Tempus program helps modernize higher education in the partner countries of Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Western Balkans and South of the Mediterranean. In the last ten years Serbia has realized over 150 projects with total value of around 50 million euros.

Among the few new Tempus projects that were presented to participants of the conference was the CareerS project, presented by Marija Jovanovic from the Center for Career Development, University of Belgrade. On that occasion, described were the goals of this project, and some of the main activities of the project work packages.
