Belgrade, 31 January 2012 – Kick off meeting of the Tempus project “CareerS – Development of Career Guidance Aimed at Improving Higher Education in Serbia” has been organized at the University of Belgrade on 30 and 31 January 2012.
First day of this start-up activity for the management of the project was attended by all 14 partner’s representatives coming from: Swansea in United Kingdom, Padua in Italy, Katowice in Poland, Nis, Kragujevac, Novi Sad, Subotica and Belgrade.
Key note address was given by representatives of grant holder institution and project coordinator – University of Belgrade, Ministry of Education and Science and Ministry of Youth and Sport.
Prof. dr Neda Bokan, Vice-Rector of the University of Belgrade greeted the guests coming for the first time in Serbia and all the partners expressing her pleasure that this Project received funding and will be coordinated by University of Belgrade Centre for Career Development and Student Counseling.
Mirjana Milanovic from the Ministry of Education said in her key note address that the Ministry has a strong interest in achieving the objectives of this project since and that this project is perceived as a chance to realize some of the measures of the Action Plan for the implementation of the National Strategy of Career Guidance and Counseling of the Republic of Serbia, which has been adopted by the Government of Serbia in March 2010.
Zora Krnjaic from the Ministry of Youth and Sport underlined importance of the National Strategy of Career Guidance and Counseling of the Republic of Serbia in the context of Youth Policy in Serbia. As a Ministry which invests much effort in implementation of the Action plan of the Strategy of Career Guidance and Counseling of the Republic of Serbia, Ministry of Youth commended the work of University Centre for career development of the University of Belgrade related to preparation of this project proposal and gathering such a consortium to work on this project.
Project partners’ institutions were all presented by their representatives in the following order:

The afternoon working session for Consortium members was devoted to further project description and planning. Marija Jovanovic, program coordinator of the University of Belgrade Centre for Career Development and Student Counseling introduced participants with relevant information and material for project implementation, and presented the project activities and outcomes, project logical framework matrix, overall workplan and the workplan for the first year of the project. During this session the Internal Quality Committee was formed.
Second day of the kick-off meeting started with a workshop given by a representative of the National Tempus Office Serbia, Jasmina Gajic who gave a presentation on Management, Reporting and Visibility of Tempus project and answered all the questions participants had.
The second workshop was lead by Marija Šola, University of Belgrade. She explained the financial management of project to participants and provided them with practical instructions and key information related to reporting requirements and supporting documents. Last workshop was devoted to “CareerS” Project Management and Project Financial issues. Dejana Lazic, University of Belgrade gave participants information on project management structure and budget details. Basic management structure was established consisting of the CareerS Project Steering Committee and CareerS Project Consortium Board.
