Arrival to Serbia

Participants arriving by plane will be landing at Belgrade airport, about 250 km away from Nis. The national carrier, JAT Airways (http://www.jat.com/active/en/home.html), serves all major European and some overseas destinations, and major European carriers fly to Belgrade as well.

After Arrival - Public Transportation

Participants can use the airport bus service from airport to downtown Belgrade (about 20 km); each arriving flight is followed by airport buses to downtown, whereas the buses in reverse direction, connecting the main points in Belgrade with the airport, run about 2 hours before each departing flight. Taxi service is also available. The airport bus has a stop near the Belgrade railway station and the adjacent main bus terminal. There is a regular railway connection between Belgrade and Nis, but the train is less convenient than public bus, which is more frequent and (using the major highway route) considerably faster. A trip from Belgrade to Nis by bus takes about 3 hours.

On the ground

The City of Niš is positioned at the crossroads, connected by road and railroad with many important cities in the region – Belgrade, Sofia, and Skopje. Although there is a train line Belgrade-Niš, bus transportation is recommended. There are many departures from Belgrade to Niš and vice versa. One-way ticket is approximately 15 Euros and the ride is 3 to 3.5 hours long.
